A sinkhole opened up on East Chesnut Street in West Chester on Thursday afternoon, Jan. 25, officials said.

The center lane of the 50 block of East Chestnut is closed and drivers traveling in the area should use caution, said borough police spokesman Dave March.

Photos from the scene showed police and work crews taping off the affected portion of the roadway.
